For those three of you who so generously donated to the tripawd website and requested a custom Tripawd Tee of your beloved friend, I am happy to report that they are DONE! Two of the pawsome shirts are posted both here in and in the forums and the other will be up in a few days (they want their shirt to be a surprise!). I really had so much fun making these shirts, getting to know more about their dogs and how they all have bravely fought the nasty “C” word. It has been my honor to do something to give back to you three and I sincerely hope you enjoy your Tshirts! Chloe and I hope that we have been able to reach out an touch someone with my art 🙂 They will be sent out on Monday so look for these snazzy CUSTOM boxes….
PS. The keyboard behind it doesn’t exist, I needed a flat surface so I used my keyboard box underneath the first layer of shirt…
This is the first update since Chloe had her 3 week ampuversary because I just started grad school (almost done with the first week) and because Chloe continues to do well during her post “critical 2 week recovery” period. So, here are a few compiled stories from the past week!
Completion of the beach walk! Last Friday my dad sneakily decided to take Chloe (and her sister Rocket) all the way down the humongous hill that led to the beach because he had determined that she had enough energy to go all the way and back. And she did! However, I discovered this fact when my dad sent me a picture text with the dogs on the block corner that was right across the street from the beach. To be honest I was a bit concerned, but my dad called me later to tell me that Chloe was a trooper because she had tension on the leash the WHOLE time and still had energy after they got home. My dad also came to the conclusion that our favorite beach walk is probably the maximum she should do since she does have to work harder than her 4 legged counterpart Rocket. I was happy to hear that he came to that conclusion on his own because I had read that since tripawds work so much harder, 1-2 mi is about all they should do. He also informed me that the hill on the 1.5 mi roundtrip beach walk was 0.3 mi (0.6mi down and up) and had 130 feet of elevation gain in that distance. Yes, I have done sets of running up/down that hill and let me tell you it is one LONG hill…. And did I mention she managed to get her leash tangled around her only back leg?
Signed up for Los Gatos K9 Cancer Walk: Last Saturday Chloe and I signed up to participate in this walk to celebrate her pawsome recovery and in memory of our dog Bonnie who lost her battle to lymphoma. Will walk for any of your dogs past or present by writing the name of your beloved friend on the back of our shirt if you like! Please leave a comment with their name and see post below for details. So far we have 20 dog names (tripawds and siblings alike who have had cancer) and see the menu on the right to see photos of the shirt construction if you haven’t already seen it in the forums! (under los gatos walk). No need to repost name here if you have already given it to me in the forums!!
Thanks to the information posted by jerry on the forums, I have discovered a K9 Cancer Walk in my area! Chloe and I are signed up for the Oct 10th K9 Cancer Walk in Los Gatos, CA and will be walking to celebrate Chloe’s amazing recovery and in memory of our dog Bonnie who lost her battle to lymphoma. I am so excited that we will be able to participate in a walk so soon after Chloe comes up to live with me! And of course she will be sporting her awesome Ruff Wear Harness… We will get a free T-shirt at the event and if you would like us to write the name of your dog (past or present) on the back of the Tee in order to walk for them, please leave a comment below with their name! Chloe and I would be honored to walk for all of them if you are unable to participate at this time! I will be sure to post lots of pictures of the event. Will give another update on her 1 month ampuversary next Thursday! Stay tuned!!
