Chloe seems to be doing well, bored inside all the time, but we’ve pretty much established a routine. Morning bathroom break, breakfast, rest, a few more bathroom breaks in between followed by more resting, then dinner +meds, and the final bathroom break. Yesterday she and I sat outside on a blanket on the lawn, which she liked, and I might do that again today depending on how she feels. I have noticed that though she has no obvious continuous pain, sometimes when she is laying down and tries to roll from one side to another, she lets out a couple yelps. I think that movement affects her staples 🙁 She will lay on her amped side, its only the “twisting” movement that seems to cause her pain. At least they come out in 9 days (but who’s counting?), so we’ll see what happens then!
On one of our mid-day bathroom breaks, Chloe made another poop pile! That’s twice in the last 24 hours! It’s a relief she is becoming regular again….
Hey Chloe, good to hear you’ve got the recovery routine down. As boring as it is, it will help you heal so much better.
Yeah, it takes time to feel comfortable enough to roll over and lay on the incision site. But you know a lot of dogs don’t try to do that for many months, you’re pretty brave! Good for you!
Keep up the great work, and thank you for being a part of this community.
P.S. Love the pic!

I just went through the same thing. Its been 1 week and a couple days since my leg came off. I still have staples and I was laying comfortably on them. It just takes some getting used to.
I can’t wait to get these staples out so I can lick again. I miss that more than anything.
Take care of yourself.
